PhD-seminar in August 6 - 10 2012

HLS 8008:
Research and best practice in health promotion: Salutogenesis.
The course consists of participation in the Forum “Health Promotion Research - An International Forum - State of the art - Directions for the future “. In addition, there is a special day assigned to presenting and discussing course papers giving a substantial introduction to theories and methods of health promotion research with special weight on salutogenesis. The aim is to introduce the participants to the implementation of the salutogenic approach to health promotion research and evidence based practice.
For each student paper a fellow student will serve as discussant in order to summarize the paper and evaluate it from a health promotion/salutogenic perspective. Criteria for this evaluation will be given in advance. Finally an expert panel will give a short feedback.

Day 5: August 10. 9AM – 4PM
1. Welcome to the course, Coordinator Professor Bengt Lindström
2. Presentation of papers by paper authors (15 min per paper) – discussions/feedback
3. Seminar evaluation (15 minutes)
Seminar duration: Five days (four days conference).
Participants: First priority to PhD-candidates but also other with masters or equivalent.
Requirement: Course curriculum approximately 100 pages
Credit points: 5 Norwegian Study Points
HLS 8008: With essay/journal article and presentation 5 cp. The candidates have to submit a paper (15-20 pages 1½ line spacing, references inclusive) by June 29. which shall be presented in the course. The content of the paper may be theoretical or empirical.

A certificate will be issued to students registered in PhD programs. Other students will receive a diploma to acknowledge their participation.
NOTE: The Conference fee has to be paid although the PhD course as such is free of charge.
