The SOC questionnaire

countries1_627

Consensual validity refers to the agreement of experts that a measure is valid. To date the consensual validity of the SOC scale seems to be moderate.[Eriksson, 2007] Most of the studies used one of the original scales (SOC-29, SOC-13) in scientific disciplines like medicine/psychiatry/psychology, public health/health science, nursing, sociology, social work, and pedagogy.

Until 1993 there were only a few attempts to modify the SOC questionnaire. However, the situation has completely changed today. Besides the original SOC questionnaire there is an array of alternative instruments. At least 17 different versions exist with different scoring alternatives (including the two versions of the family sense of coherence scale, a questionnaire especially adjusted for children and the sense of school coherence instrument.
